Featured in Forbes: Unbxd Launches Virtual Event for RUKA Hair!

You may have seen over the last few days that UNBXD has helped RUKA hair bring to life their vision for a virtual launch event. We are excited to announce that you can now visit the event yourself AND we have been featured in Forbes! 

When you think about product launches prior to 2020, they would almost always involve a physical presence that would incentivise shoppers to visit a location to learn about your product, how it works, and why it's better than the rest. With that option off the table, we were tasked to build something outside the box (no pun intended).


RUKA is a beauty brand that puts black women’s experience at the centre of their products, brand and philosophy. Our incredible team have been hard at work creating a CGI virtual product launch event that consists of 4 rooms. Each room gives customers a different and unique experience. Once you enter the event you will walk into the ‘Living Room’, a relaxing space that features a few of RUKA’s products, but also a talk between two women about their experience growing up with black hair and how that affected them. 

Next users will visit the ‘Salon’, this area lets you explore the different types of hair extensions available along with a honest conversation about hair salon experiences. The next room has got to be our favourite, welcome to the ‘Cinema’.

The Cinema room is a special place where you can find out all about the history of black hair, from modern day figures such as Oprah and Ilhan Omar, to historical trailblazers like Marsha P. Johnson.

The final room is a fully interactive RUKA Shop. While you can visit the area now, come back on Thursday 8th of January to experience the full shop.

We are thrilled at the incredible reaction the virtual launch has had so far. Since the event opened yesterday evening, over 4000 people have visited the virtual launch event and interacted with each of the 4 areas over 10,000 times!
