Celebrating Two Years of Creativity: A Spotlight on Justin, Our Talented Graphic Designer

As UNBXD marks another milestone, we're thrilled to commemorate the two-year journey of our exceptionally creative graphic designer, Justin. His dedication and artistic prowess have not only left an indelible mark on our agency but have also contributed to the vibrant tapestry of our creative endeavours. In this exclusive Q&A session, we delve into Justin's experiences, inspirations, and the artistic journey that has defined his time with UNBXD.

What inspired you to pursue a career in graphic design, and how did you find your way to UNBXD?

At a young age, I've always been creative, drawing, music, and DJing. After School, I started to research how I could pursue my passion as a career. After a lot of research and deliberation, I came across Graphic Design, I researched what it entails and found that it was something I took a liking to, I then enrolled on a BTEC National Diploma Course for 2 years then developed my skills at university where I began to sharpen my tools and understanding the business side of design. Since the day of graduation, I have consistently developed my understanding and skills on a daily basis.

I don't think I can remember a day where I haven't been on my laptop designing something or being creative. it's not just a job for me, it's always been a huge interest and passion.

Can you share a memorable project you've worked on during your two years at UNBXD? What made it stand out for you?

That's quite a tricky question as we have worked on so many projects, personally the branding projects and the UI UX projects are my most memorable, if I had to choose, either Discount Dragon ( ui ux ) or Ascari / Lemonade Living

How has your design style evolved since joining the agency, and what influences continue to shape your work?

I think my design style is always evolving, and that's how your skills stay relevant and not outdated. what I would say is the allocated time for self-dev has allowed me to venture into other aspects of design especially new trends like 3D and AI, in that aspect, my skillset has evolved. I would also like to add that my overall presentation of the project has been influenced by my experience with the agency so far, from a business aspect.

What challenges have you encountered in the ever-evolving field of graphic design, and how have you overcome them?

Make sure your skillset is ever-evolving and diverse, if you are not careful your knowledge can quickly become redundant if your trends and software leave you behind. Invest time in yourself.

Sometimes clients can be challenging, and the best way is to educate them to understand processes and why we work with the process.

Are there specific design trends or techniques that you're currently excited about or exploring?

3D, I think 3D and AI are where the design market will be heading towards, iv been exploring Adobe Dimension and Cinema 4D, 3D Printing, and More. I quite like the trend of combining 3D objects/typography with a 2D design, it's a great way to show depth in your design.

How do you approach collaboration within the creative team at UNBXD, and how has it contributed to the success of various projects?

Sharing knowledge and professional input is a key factor in the industry, the more we learn from one another the better we become as a collective. with Unbxd, it has been pretty easy to collaborate with others on projects, although we are remote, we are in ,,,,,, communication with each other throughout platforms

What advice would you give to aspiring graphic designers looking to make their mark in the industry?

The best advice I could give to an aspiring graphic designer would be to learn as much as you can from others with more experience, research trends, and work on your portfolio, it's free with your Adobe package and you don't need any coding/website experience at all. Once your portfolio is online, you can actively be found and search for your first opportunity.

If I had to summarise it in three words it would be " learn, perfect, implement"

Can you share a behind-the-scenes glimpse into your creative process or a favorite tool that has proven invaluable in your work?

I tend to sketch, use Illustrator to digitise my ideas then from there, depending on the project I migrate it where need be. Whether that is after effects, premiere pro, InDesign, photoshop, etc.

A great way of kicking off is online research, there is a huge pool of resources to collate a mood board of colours, imagery, mockups, overlays, and texture, all of which will spark your creative process.

Reflecting on the past two years, what moments stand out as highlights in your professional journey at UNBXD?

Working with the team, learning what they know and providing knowledge in return, and also working on projects for high-profile clients.

As you envision the future, what creative aspirations and goals do you have for yourself within the agency?

To continue to sharpen my tools and put out a higher quality of work, develop my skillset for the future, and continue working on great projects.
